9. 1 tsp of coriander powder (dhaniya)
10. 1 tsp of fennel powder(saunf)
11. 1 tsp of turmeric (haldi)

13. salt to taste.
14. 2 Tbsp Heavy whipped cream or 4 Tbsp sour cream
15. 2-3 tbsp of chopped cilantro/coriander leaves for garnishing

METHOD:
Preparations:
1. Cut the freshly made paneer or store bought paneer into half inch cubes .If the paneer is too tight or frozen ,then thaw it in microwave for 1 min before cutting.

  1. Chop the onions finely either in a chopper or food processor. Also chop the tomatoes separately, if you are not using the canned tomato puree.

  2. Grate half inch ginger with a shredder.

  3. Cut the cilantro and the green chilli as needed.(optional)

Cooking:
1. Take a pressure cooker or Wok or an open deep pan and put it on high heat.

  1. Add oil and let it warm. Then add the cumin seeds and let them sputter.

  2. Now add hing, ginger -chilli paste and finely chopped onions. Saute them for 2 mins.

  3. Now add the tomato puree and the frozen peas (Which have to be rinsed in fresh water)and stir well.

  4. Let it cook for 3 mins. Now start adding all the spices viz. coriander powder, curry powder, haldi, saunf powder, salt ,chilli powder according to your preferential tastes.

  5. If you are cooking in a pan, then cover it partially with a plate and let the curry come to a boil. Let it boil for 5-7 mins. Then uncover it,add paneer and cream and stir well. Let it cook on medium heat for another 2 mins.

  6. But in a pressure cooker, you need not wait that long, just add the paneer in the half cooked gravy. Now add the sour cream or heavy whipped cream and close the lid.

  7. Turn off the heat after 1 whistle. Open the lid when cooled down and add the chopped cilantro to garnish it.

  8. Your delicious matar paneer is ready.

Serve it with roti, rice or parantha !!
