> To make samosas from scratch invites trouble in this fast pacing life.So if you have some tortillas at hand, you can try this simple time-saving recipe with hot tea. I found this recipe from the internet, and hope it would ease your efforts a bit.
Ingredients:
1. Store bought Flour Tortillas
2. Boiled and mashed potatoes – 2 cups
3. peas -1⁄2 cup
4. cream cheese – 2 Tbsp
5. corn – 1⁄4 cup (optional)
6. carrots – 1⁄4 cup grated(optional)
7. salt to taste
8. cooking oil – 2 Tbsp
9. red chilli powder – 1⁄2 tsp
8. Green chillies – 1-2
9. fennel (saunf) powder -1 Tsp
10. coriander (dhania)powder -1 Tsp
11. turmeric(haldi) – 1⁄4 Tsp
12. all -purpose flour – 2 Tbsp
13. cashews – 4 Tbsp(optional)
14. raisins(kishmish) – 2 tbsp(optional)
15. grated ginger – 1 spoon
16. chopped onion- 3 Tbsp (optional)
Method:
1. Take the all -purpose flour in a bowl and add 4 Tbsp of water to it to form a thick fluid. This mixture will be used for pasting the tortilla sheets after folding them.
- Take a pan or a small wok.Add cooking oil in it and heat it. Once the oil is hot add onions, peas, ginger and stir well. Then add corn ,salt and saute them for 2 mins. Now add the remaining spices and chillies and mashed potatoes.Mix them well.In the end add the cream cheese and mix it well .Turn off the heat, your filling is ready.
3.Now take one flour tortilla and cut it into half. Pick it from both the ends of the diameter and bring them together, such that half of the diametric circumference is placed over the other half and paste it with the solution we prepared in step 1.It forms an open cone with its tip facing down.

cone
Now place a pea in the center bottom of the cone. Fill it with 2 Tbsp of filling.

Apply the flour paste on the edges of the cone and paste it by pressing it with both hands.

Similarly prepare all the samosas and heat the oil in a wok at high.

Once the oil is sufficiently hot turn the heat to medium.Check the oil by dropping a small bit of tortilla in it.If it comes up instantly and the oil sizzles ,it is ready.
Now slowly place the samosa in the oil and deep fry them till golden brown from all sides. This needs turning their sides in between.4-5 samosas may take 10-15 mins to be evenly cooked.

Once they are golden brown ,take them out through a strainer on a paper towel layered plate.Serve them hot with mint chutney or ketchup.
